President Biden Appoints New Supreme Court Nominee

Posted by John Rogers | Mar 04, 2022

On Friday, President Biden announced Ketanji Brown Jackson as his nominee to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Jackson, 51, currently sits on United States Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit and had been a front runner for the vacancy since Justice Stephen Breyer announced his retirement.

President Biden addressed Jackson from the White House earlier today stating he was fulfilling his “responsibilities under the Constitution” in choosing Jackson. Biden noted Jackson's talents, character, and the significance of this nomination.

Jackson is a former federal public defender and graduate from Yale Law School. Her nominate reaches historical levels because she is the first black woman to be nominated to the Supreme Court.

Senator Chuck Schumer, majority leader, promised a fair and time confirmation process for Jackson and he hopes that she will earn bipartisan support.
